Graham Steed trained in Agricultural Science and Soil Physics (PhD) at LaTrobe University then spent 16 years in research and research management with the Victorian Department of Agriculture (Australia). He specialised in sustainable farming systems and led and managed statewide and national research portfolios in farming systems and natural resource management.
He set up G R Steed & Associates Pty Ltd in 1998 and has managed complex national R&D programmes for research investors including the Grains Research and Development Corporation, Malting Barley Quality Improvement Programmme, National Water Commision, and Rural Industries RDC.
He has also worked closely with research providers, industry and government to ensure that stakeholder's returns from R&D are maximised.
Between 2008 - 2014 he was Programme Manager for an international collaborative project on Water Futures for Sustainable Cities for the Univeristas 21 group of universities.
Graham is now providing consulting services to a number of Australian and international research- focused universities, including the University of Melbourne, RMIT University, Flinders University, Griffith University (all current), University of Virginia (2011- 2014) and University of Connecticut (2013) on:
- project development for large and complex research bids (eg: Cooperative Research Centres and Centres of Excellence and Laureate Fellowships) across all science, humanities, economics and health research areas and
- research proposal/ grant reviews and advice to Chief Investigators applying to a range of funding organisations including the Australian Research Council and National Health and Medical Research Council. He has a demonstrated an outstanding track record in assisting researchers win funding after previous failures.
